“There should be in the life of every married couple a continual building of the sacrament.”

Mother Angelica

“The marriage covenant, by which a man and a woman form with each other an intimate communion of life and love, has been founded and endowed with its own special laws by the Creator.  By its very nature it is ordered to the good of the couple, as well as to the generation and education of children.  Christ the Lord has raised marriage between the baptized to the dignity of a sacrament.”  (CCC 1659)

God’s Plan for a Joy-filled Marriage

Through this program, the couple is given the Catholic perspective on marriage, and God’s plan for them as a married couple.  A certificate of completion is the record of participation.  Registration for this program is through the Diocese of Lexington website.  https://cdlex.org/marriage-preparation-process/

Typically in the form of a six hour seminar the focus is primarily on the theology of marriage and sexuality, through the lens of the Theology of the Body.

The Married Life Skills Workshop

Through this program, the couple is exposed to difficulties which may come up in a new married situation, and they are offered methods to resolve these issues.  A certificate of completion is the record of participation.  https://cdlex.org/marriage-preparation-process/

The Married Life component has typically been provided by local parishes.  Several Lexington parishes have offered a one day workshop led by a married couple (or couples) that focuses on the virtues and skills needed for the daily living of marriage.  Some couples have also provided the opportunity for couples to fulfill this component by meeting with a sponsor couple from their parish.
