Faith Formation

Home / Faith Formation
When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them,
“Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
Mark 10:14

Faith Formation is more than just religious instruction.
The goal is to facilitate growth in faith that encourages Catholics, both young and adult, to live out the Gospels and become better disciples of Jesus Christ.

We walk by Faith; Come join the journey! Bring your children to join others as they prepare for the Sacraments so they may come to understand the most holy sacrifice of Jesus Christ, our Father, and the Holy Spirit. FaithWalk is our Faith Formation for all ages as we walk with one another through life to a deeper understanding of our relationship with God and each other.

Children’s FaithWalk

Grades K-8

Children’s FaithWalk is an opportunity for children in pre-school through 8th grade to learn more about their faith at an age appropriate level. Our FaithWalk curriculum is liturgically based and is designed for families to be able to engage in conversation with their children outside of FaithWalk and Mass, about our Catholic Faith, God, and how to implement what they are learning in everyday life. FaithWalk meets on Sundays during the school year from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Contact Mark Davila, our Volunteer Children’s FaithWalk Coordinator at paxcre@cdlex.org for additional information or with questions.

If you are interested in registering your child for FaithWalk, please fill out the online registration. Our staff will be alerted once you have submitted the form. All FaithWalk Catechists and helpers have completed the CMG Connect Certified Safe Environment Training through the Diocese of Lexington.

Youth Group enjoying s’mores and fellowship

Youth Group

Grades 7-12

High school is a very pivotal time in a child’s life and it is important to provide the faith and support that will help guide them through their adult life. In addition to reviewing the faith in preparation for Confirmation, our faith formation program also teaches children to turn to their faith and parish community in times of hardship.

Youth Group meets twice a month on Sunday evening. There is not a formal curriculum as we like to meet the youth where they are both spritually as well as indivdiually. Our time is spent in group activities such as games, arts and crafts, and impromptu discussions. It is our goal to incorporate our youth into Parish Life by helping them to engage with other ministries in the parish, as well as work on some of their own ministry work such as visiting the elderly, making cards for hospital or homebound patients, or by helping with simple upkeep of the parish grounds. We very much encourage the youth to decide collectively how they would like to serve their community.

Contact Dcn. John Brannen or our Volunteer Youth Coordinator, Brian Schweighardt, paxyouth@cdlex.org if your high schooler is intersted in Youth Group. All Adults working with the Youth Group have completed the CMG Connect Certified Safe Environment Training through the Diocese of Lexington.

FaithWalk for Adults

Ages 18+

Learning and growing in our Faith never ends! We offer the opportunity for all adults to journey together on Sunday mornings from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. Where you are in your faith does not matter. All are welcome. A Bible study will be the main topic of this hour together, however, the people you meet and the conversations that are sparked will have you looking forward to the next meeting even as you leave the current one.

Evening Bible Studies

Ages 18+

Growing in your faith has no age limit!

The Knights of Columbus offer a Bible Study for Men on Thursdays in the Parish Hall at 7 p.m. They are currently studying The Acts of the Apostles: Ignatius Catholc Study Bible by Hahn Scott and Curtis Mitchell. All men are welcome.

A Bible study for women is often held in the fall. We will update this page as time draws closer to the next study. Follow Pax Christi Catholic Church on Facebook as information will be posted there as well.
