July 10 •First Masses of “The New Lexington Parish” at the Bluegrass Bingo Center in the Clays Mill Shopping Center.
- An estimated 470 people attend the 9:00 a.m. Mass and 250 attend the 11:00 a.m. Mass.
- The first collection totaled $3,537. A “Town Hall” meeting was held between masses .
July 17 •We begin our second Sunday as “A Community of 341 Ministers” (110 family units).
- 5:30 p.m. Mass is held on Saturday evening at the Lexington Ice Center (YMCA) on Eureka Springs Drive.
July 24 •Parishioners begin to make suggestions for a name: Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Joseph, Our Lady of Hope,

July 27 •The first Wednesday night Mass is held at 6:30 in the McDonalds Office on Main St. in Nicholasville. Mass is

August •Our second month begins with “A Community of 435 Ministers” (160 family units).
- First big social event held on Aug. 3 with Feast of St. Lawrence cook-out after the regular “Big Mac Mass” at the
McDonalds Office.
- Voting for the parish name begins on August 20. First Lector training is held on August 28.
- First Baptism is held on August 21 at the 9am Mass – Colin Michael Fenelon, son of Michael & Jan Marie Fenelon.

January •Our happy new year begins with New Years Eve and Day masses.
- The parishioner count was not recorded in the bulletin in January.
- Pax Christi participates with six neighboring churches in a congregation exchange. Lansdowne Cumberland
Presbyterian Church members attend Pax Christi. Six of our members attend Bethsaida Baptist Church.
February •Our eighth month finds us with “485 baptized and confirmed adults who are called to Christ’s Ministry and Peace.”
- Our first “Mardi Gras” party after a 6:30 pm Mass. The party was a potluck supper.
March •We begin our ninth month and our first Lent with 489 baptized and confirmed adults (247 family units). •Ash Wednesday Mass is held at 7:30 am, Noon and 6:30 p.m.
- Our first Stations of the Cross services are held every Friday in Lent.
- The first Youth Group (Junior and Senior High) meets on March 12.
- Dinner at Suggins for the benefit of the Building Fund is held on March 19.
April •Our 10th month began with 502 baptized and confirmed adults (253 family units).
- Youth Group Cookout is held on April 8th.
- A “Farm Warming” to equip the “rectory” – Father Hehman’s home/farm is held on April 9th. He was registered
at McAlpin’s Bridal Department.
- First Holy Week at Pax Christi included our first Seder Meal, which was held after the Holy Thursday Mass.
- Our first Easter Vigil was held at the small Pax Christi Center. We had no R.C.I.A, so there were no baptisms
or confirmations at the vigil.
- Easter morning included our first Easter Egg Hunt (in the parking lot of the shopping center!)
- After four months of reading and discussing A Crisis of Conscience, the Tuesday Morning Book Club
moves on to their next book! J
May •In our 11th Month, “we are 265 family units or 522 baptized and confirmed adult ministers…”
- Our first First Communion was held on May 7th with Sean Ashcraft, Michael DaPrille, Eric Delong,
Nicholas Edel, Nicky Morrison and Laura Tubbesing receiving our Lord in the Eucharist for the first time!
- Our first Annual Appeal and Census.
- Kapp Embroidery has its (our) first Shirt/Cap sale. A great tradition begins.
- Ascension Thursday Mass is still held on Thursday.
- Bishop J. Kendrick Williams confers the Sacrament of Confirmation on ten of our young people in our parish’s
first Confirmation Mass. Confirmandi were Laura Buechel, Courtney Byers, Kearny Canter, Clay Carter, Michelle
DaPrile, Philip Holland, Christi Maggard, Carey Maggard, Nathan Sowa, and Aaron Williams.
June •In our 12th Month, we became a community of “271 family units or 535 baptized and confirmed adults.”
- Youth Group picnic at Shillito Park on June 25.

- We begin Lenten small group scripture sharing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays, using the Disciples in Mission program.

Jim Taylor, Ray Turenne, Julie Turok, Fred Vester and John Wagner. The first meeting is held this month.
- A “Green Food Drive” for God’s Pantry is sponsored by the 7th and 8th grade classes.
