Important Message from Fr. Pat

Wait! Don’t stop reading yet!

The Parish Council is one of the most important leadership bodies in the parish. I greatly rely on their input and support. They are a concerned and dedicated group of people. You may not see the direct results of their deliberations, but much of what we do in the parish is enhanced and energized by their discussions. Beginning in June, we will need 4 new members.

Because I want the council to represent the full scope of our parish, I am trying a different approach to inviting membership. So this year we seek…

One person between the ages of 20 and 30.

One person between the ages of 30 and 40.

One person between the ages of 40 and 50.

One person over the age of 50.

I truly want all age groups to be represented, because, hopefully, there will be different viewpoints to offer, and so that all will be better served. If no one from a particular age group “steps up”, we will lose that unique perspective.

Council members serve a three year term and there are nine members in total. This is the way we keep some consistency while constantly bringing in fresh ideas. Our meetings are usually on the 3rd Thursday. They begin at 6:30 and take a little over and hour and a half. We will also have a special planning day on Saturday, August 19. For special projects, we may ask for a few members to spend extra time but this does not happen regularly.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call. I always want people to know what they are getting into. Thank you for your attention. I look forward to hearing from YOU!
