A note from Deacon. John
We are at the threshold of bringing back Communion to the homebound in the parish. There are a number of individuals who have expressed interest in helping to bring this ever important ministry back.
One challenge we face is identifying those of the parish in need of receiving the Blessed Sacrament. The obligation to attend Mass was reinstated by Bishop John the First Sunday of Advent, November 28, 2021. Those who are vulnerable or immune-compromised because of age, health, or medical reasons are still under no obligation to attend Mass at the risk of their well-being. This ministry is for those who are truly isolated either by age, medical issues, or transportation.
If you or someone that you know in the Pax Christi community falls under the above description or situation, please contact Deacon John Brannen at firstname.lastname@example.org, or 502-371-5779, or 859-273-9999 extension 1551.
The Catechism explains: “The Sunday Eucharist is the foundation and confirmation of all Christian practice. For this reason the faithful are obliged to participated in the Eucharist on days of obligation...Participation in the communal celebration of the Sunday Eucharist is a testimony of belonging and of being faithful to Christ and to his Church.” (CCC 2181,2182).
In our desire to avail all those separated from the Sunday Eucharist the names and contact information of those individuals will be compiled creating a list of need to then be shared with those serving as Homebound Communion Ministers.
