Rachel Garden Dedication

The rains and wind subsided as 50+ parishioners gathered to dedicate the Rachel Garden. Ryan Gallagher thanked all those who have supported him throughout this Eagle Scout project which has been in the works for the past 1 1/2 years, he lamented that he wished his grandfather, Jack Sauerborn d-Dec.21, 2016, had lived to see the final work, as he had been of great support to him throughout the project. Fr. Larry read from the book of Genesis the story of Jacob’s love for Rachel and from the Gospel of Matthew, where Herod ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years old and under. (Feast of the Holy Innocents December 28th). In this gospel we hear quoted from Jeremiah “A voice was heard in Ramah, sobbing and loud lamentation; Rachel weeping for her children, and she would not be consoled, since they were no more.” Father noted that this weeping is heard around the world for all God’s children, the unborn and stillborn babies, the young children who are neglected, abused and cast aside, even our young men & women who come home from war broken in body & spirit. May this Rachel Garden provide a place of peace and renewed hope as we look toward the place where the weeping will be no more and all will be consoled
