Happenings at the Pax

Prime Timers (50 and Over)

All those 50+ are invited to join other Prime Timers in fun, fellowship and service. Two general meetings are held each year (spring and fall) at which time we discuss trips/events being planned, what outreach programs we will support throughout the year, and just to enjoy each other’s company.  Please consider joining us at our next meeting scheduled for April 26 at 2 p.m. in the Church Hall.

Email Huie Yang at  tarun_43@hotmail.com or

Mel Goodfriend at melmanintex@yahoo.com if you’re interested in joining us prior to April!

A Message From Catholic Charities

“Catholic Charities would like to express our immense gratitude to the parishioners of Pax Christi.  The response to our request for household and hygiene items was phenomenal.  We chose to request these items because we know how much they are appreciated by the families we serve.  When they are struggling to make ends meet, these are items that families simply cannot afford.  When we are able to offer them help with basic needs the gratitude is so sincere.

Thank you for always being so generous when Catholic Charities reaches out for help.  Pax Christi is a blessing to those we serve.  Happy New Year to all! “

– Ginny Vicini, Executive Director,

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Lexington

A Thank You

The following letter of THANKS was received in December from Fr. Thomas R. Carroll, Sch.P. of the Piarist Fathers, Order of the Pious Schools.

Dear Fr. Stewart & Parishioners of Pax Christi Catholic Church,

We have received a check in the amount of $5,834.68 from the Society of Propagation of the Faith reflecting in part the results of our appeal at your parish in connection with the 2019 Mission Co-Op program.

I want to express my thanks for your generosity, which we are sure manifests a true spirit of sacrifice on your part.  Your offerings are not only essential for accomplishing the work that God has called us to do but are also necessary for our very survival.

Neither you nor I may ever see the results of our work and the end of poverty in our country, but we have to make the effort to bring it about and at the same time to spread our faith.  Whatever success we may have is also your success and God will reward you for your part in it.

I am also grateful for the hospitality shown to me while I was at Pax Christi  Catholic Church.

Thanks again for your help and may God bless you.

Your brother in Christ,

Fr. Thomas R. Carroll, Sch.P.

Mission Director

Online Giving is Available

1. Go to paxchristilex.org

2. At the bottom of the home page—click on the green “Donate” tab

3. Create your online profile.  (Please remember your online ID & Password as we will not have access to those.)

4. Please note:  The online provider does charge the Parish a transaction fee when donating through our website.  Many parishioners choose to offset this fee by increasing the amount of their donation to help cover those fees.

OTHER OPTIONS FOR GIVING…

Þ  SENDING FUNDS THROUGH YOUR OWN BANK:   Most financial institutions do not charge the giver or the receiver for sending checks through online bill pay.  Did you know that you can set up Automatic Giving to Pax Christi just like you pay your bills? Use your Envelope number as your account number. It’s easy and continues until you want to change it!

Þ MAILING YOUR PERSONAL CHECK:  In the monthly envelope packet you will find an envelope that is suitable for mail.   Please don’t mail cash!

Þ REGULAR WEEKLY COLLECTION:   You can use the envelopes each week for your personal checks/cash. We still except loose checks and cash, too!

From the Knights of Columbus…

As we begin the New Year, the Knights of Columbus will publish the monthly theme, some reflections, and the family project from the Family Alive Booklet passed out in December.  If you’d like a copy of the Family Fully Alive booklet, contact the Knights at: kofc15613@gmail.com

Family Fully Alive  theme for January:

“Family Prayer”

Meditation– The Christian family needs to put things first by cultivating a relationship with God together through prayer.  Prayer is essential for families to develop Christian joy, faith, hope, and love.

Scripture Reading of the month—Psalm 65:6-14.          A prayer of gratitude for God’s blessings.

Family Project– Create a “prayer corner” for a favorable place to facilitate prayer in the home.

Reflections:

1. Is prayer at the center of our family life?  If not, why?

2. How can we build a better rhythm of prayer into our family’s life?

3. In what way can we mark significant family moments throughout the year with prayer?

Pax Christi Children’s Choir

All children grades kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to be in the Pax Children’s Choir. Children will develop vocal technique and learn basic theory skills.

Rehearsals begin on Monday, January 13.

We meet from 5-6 p.m. in the Church Hall in Room 4. Children will prepare songs for the FaithWalk Mass on February 16, Palm Sunday on April 5, and Mother’s Day     on May 10.

COME AND SING!
