The Giving Tree is one of Pax Christi’s major Christian Service outreach activities. Through your generosity, our parish brings Christmas cheer to underprivileged children in Monticello & Wayne County. We have a steering committee but continue to need help with coordination of the project. If you have any questions or wish to be put on the email list, contact Nancy Lacy at firstname.lastname@example.org
Here is the timeline for this year’s Giving Tree and how parishioners can participate:
November 12th: Cards are made for each child requesting gifts and the “Giving Trees” are set up (need volunteers to help with this).
November 12-30th: Parishioners select one or more Giving Tree cards from the Giving Trees in the gathering area. Purchase the gifts suggested on the card (an outfit and a toy — both gifts together should total no more than $50), wrap them, & attach the labels to the outside of the gifts.
By December 4th: Bring your wrapped & labeled gifts back to the church and leave them in the designated location in the gathering area (use labels provided—see Giving Tree card).
December 4 through 8: Donate Little Debbie Snack Cakes (please only the single wrapped Christmas cakes — we cannot serve the twin wrapped cakes) and juice boxes (no pouches please) to be served at the party for the children.
December 10: Pax Christi hosts the Christmas party for Children in Monticello/Wayne County. Load truck at 8:00 AM. A bus is provided for transportation leaving Pax Christi Church at approximately 8:30 AM. (the more the merrier!)
***Youth participation is encouraged and fulfills service hours but youth must be accompanied by their parent or a designated youth chaperone.***
