Baptism
At PAX CHRISTI, baptisms are usually celebrated during one of the weekend masses to accommodate the family of the child to be baptized. Parents who wish to have their child baptized need to be registered members of the church, and have completed a Baptismal Preparation Class prior to scheduling the baptism. Under special circumstances, the sacrament of Baptism can be celebrated outside the Sunday mass.
The Baptismal preparation classes are on the first Sunday of the month after the 11am, usually around 12:30pm. The class meets in the church hall which is located under the church. Parents are asked to register for the class by calling the office at 859-273-9999. Parents and godparents are invited to participate.
Currently the class is taught by Christina Gibson; however the parish is looking to put together a team so that the duties can be shared. The parish also hopes to add an additional session to the Baptismal Preparation, which will involve the parents and godparents more into the understanding of the sacra mentality of Baptism, rather than what to expect during the ceremony.
Adults who are not baptized and wish to enter into the Catholic Church are prepared through the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation) and are baptized during the Easter Vigil.
