“By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.” (CCC 1499)
The proper time for receiving this holy anointing has certainly arrived when the believer begins to be in day of death because of illness or old age.” (CCC 1527)
The Sacrament of Anointing is available to anyone who is preparing to have a surgical procedure. If you are scheduled for a surgical procedure, please see a priest prior to your surgery to request the sacrament of Anointing.
If you are admitted to a hospital or skilled facility, please contact the office at 859-273-9999 or Fr. Nick at 859-351-7825 to request the sacrament.
At PAX CHRISTI, we celebrate annually the Sacrament of Anointing, usually during the weekend masses closest to February 11th, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, and the World Day of the Sick.
